What are the latest updates regarding RNE policy, projects, and investment opportunities in Indonesia?
Indonesia targets new and renewable energy (RNE) to account for 23% of its energy mix by 2025, then recently committed to accelerating the adoption of renewable energy power plants as a deal to a multi-funding program: Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). The clean energy power plant will account for 30% of power plants in 2030, more than double that today.
The Indonesian government has issued policies to pursue those targets and boost electricity demands. Investors have shown interest to involve.
In the past 2 years, no less than 8 companies / consortiums publicly expressed their interest in developing solar PV in Riau Islands. Interest in investments also occurred in other regions, such as East Java and Borneo.
