BACKGROUND

Despite Indonesia's strong, long-term economic outlook, the country faces major challenges dealing with increasing volumes of unmanaged solid waste and marine litter. To deal with this challenge, the Indonesian government has set ambitious targets:

Reducing waste by 30% at the source, increase waste handling to 70% as well as a 70% reduction in marine debris by 2025.

To meet these targets, there is an urgent need for policy action, technological solutions, funding, and increased knowledge about post-consumption municipal solid waste (MSW) flows. This presents exciting business opportunities for companies and investors that can assist Indonesia in its handling of MSW, plastic waste, and marine litter.

As Indonesia develops, the necessity for good waste management infrastructure increases. Norway is known for its comprehensive waste management systems, sophisticated technological solutions, as well as its leading role in the global fight against marine litter. Therefore, Norwegian companies and investors are well-positioned to become strategic partners in Indonesia's shift to a circular economy.

OBJECTIVES

  • Business and financing opportunities identified
  • Participants get a good understanding about:
